The health care system in the Transnistrian region faces difficulties and incurs high costs, due to the lack of family doctors. The participants discussed about it on Friday, 15 November, at the meeting of the Health Platform created within the EU Confidence Building Measures Program implemented by UNDP.
Experts from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy N. Testemitanu presented the advantages of the system in which the patient is consulted by a family doctor in the first place, and then referred to a specialist. Given that the system is to be implemented on the left bank of the Dniester river, the Health Platform will participate in the development of the family medicine model and will provide a training program for the relevant employees.
Within the EU Confidence Building Measures Program implemented by UNDP, four thematic platforms have been created – Health, Education and Sport, Culture and Environmental Protection. They bring together non-governmental organizations and associations from both banks of the Dniester river and aim to initiate and implement joint development projects.
